Does Lasik Eye Surgery Hurt?

I was watching a video on lasik eye surgery and it looks SO painful. The eye was bleeding a bit and the patient is awake the entire time. Has anyone here got this surgery done before? And is it painful to keep to keep your eyes open and for things to be pressing against and touching your eyes?
I’m planning to get this done in the future because the vision in my left eye isn’t that wel.

I had lasik last summer and an enhancement to my right eye in December. Neither one of the surgeries hurt. All that happen to me was I had a lot of bruising on my actually eye balls and I slept the whole day after the surgery. Besides that there was virtually no pain and I like the results. The only complaint I have with the eye surgery is that now my eyes are really dry. They are so dry that my eye doctor had to put plugs in the tear duct and recommend I put eye drops four times a day but he prefers that I put them on every hour.

During the surgery you feel pressure and your eye just feels uncomfortable, but it’s not too bad. After your eyes burn and itch, and has that feeling like you have something in your eyes. It’s uncomfortable and it hurts a little bit but not too bad.

My man had this done in September last year…
He had no pain at all during the procedure as they anaesthetize the eyes and all he could feel was pressure. He said the strangest thing was having to get over being able to see everything that was happening and the smell of burning…
Yuck, i know, but now he says it was worth every cent and every bit of discomfort that he felt afterwards as his eyes were healing….

I honestly wouldn’t get it down…because you’ll never know what may go wrong. Few years back, I saw a special on TV and this woman got painfully dry eyes for the rest of her life because they started cutting away after putting the anaesthesia in….
But if you personally want to get it done…then do it….but make sure to weigh out the pros and cons before doing so.

lasik is not as safe as you think??
surgery is associated with several potentially sight-threatening
    complications
no doubt that glasses number will be removed….
but you will be welcoming other problems like dry eyes, difficulty in
    night driving, etc
From complications associated with the corneal cap removal to its
perforation, the researchers list several things that may go wrong.
For instance, the head of the microkeratome, or the instrument used
for performing the surgery, may not complete its full excursion across
the cornea resulting in an incomplete cut. Or it may cut the flap off
completely, resulting in a free cap.
Among the other complications, an inflammatory reaction, known
commonly as Shifting Sands Syndrome, can occur through seemingly
innocous substances such as talc from gloves, oil, wax, metallic
fragments, and even particles from eye drapes, among others. A
progressive thinning of the cornea could be a potential, serious
late complication following Lasik, perhaps due to altered biomechanics
    of this layer
    of the eye.
In most cases, there is a decrease in tear secretion following the
surgery leads to severe dry eyes & dumness of the corneal
sensations.. Night vision problems and other optical aberrations may
occur in some cases. Under correction and overcorrection of glasses
    no.
what other options are available to get rid of glasses….

During the procedure the patient is completely awake, but they put eye drops in that numb your eyes and also so you can’t see.
The entire procedure is absolutely painless.
I can understand why it looks scary and painful. Needles and knifes coming at your eyes seems painful but honestly you can’t see or feel anything at all.
    Hope this helps!

there are no nerve endings in the eye itself. talk to your opthalmologist about your concerns.
