You should have little problem working Friday after LASIK, though you may find that your vision fluctuates and your eyes will feel dry. My husband had his LASIK on a Friday and was watching TV that night!! He drove himself to his 24 hr postop visit the next morning. It is going to depend on how confident you feel in your vision on Friday morning as to whether you should take another day…totally up to you. Medically, there would be no reason to NOT work.
Just follow your surgeon’s postop instructions to the letter. Keep your hands away from your eyes, use your drops, no water from shower/swimming for one week…no eye makeup for one week…and keep up with your postop visits. And use your preservative free artificial tears as often as you need to…there is no such thing as too many artificial tear drops…just be sure you wait 5-10 minutes between and after your medication drops before using them (do not want to risk washing the meds out).
My hubby had his LASIK about 6 weeks ago…and has had no complications to this point. I had PRK nearly a month ago…and I’m doing good (different healing time…slightly different procedure).
Good luck! I’m sure everything will go just fine.

you most likely will be able to work the next day, yes. you’ll have some restrictions and you’ll probably have to come in for a 1-day follow up (actually that depends on the surgeon).
but most uncomplicated lasik cases can go back to work immediately. (prk is different…those people cannot usually go back to work immediately)
I’m not a doctor or anything but my best bet is to possibly to a week off or till your eye gets better.
I have had this done twice. I had it done on a friday morning and went back to work on that sunday night. Yes you can work but wish that I had as least one or two days to stay home and rest my eyes. What happens is that your eyes become MUCH more drier and you NEED to always put in eye drops ANYTIME that you feel that they are drying. I found that a light colored sunglass also helped while I was working to see the screens and keep extra breezes from drying them out any faster. Lower the lights also in the rooms. Your eyes will be much more sensitive to light for a few days.Always have sterile solution drops. I have bought “tubes instead of a bottle for this and easy to one-time use.Don’t rub your eyes, just add drops if you feel “itchy”. Also, as soon as you get home after surgery, take your meds at the time recomended even if you feel fine at the moment. Pain will catch up and is very uncomfortable. A cold washcloth kept in ice water can be laid (not wiped) across your eyes. This will help the most and if someone helps you and, sleep it off !Otherwise happy visions!:>)
