I’ve seen some videos of how the surgery is done, and they put these sort of contact things in your eyes. But since contacts build proteins and thats why you have to change them, how would the contact thingy inserted in your eyes during surgery work? Does it not build protein? How so?

I have a feeling that you are talking about something quite different to LASIK. However:
In LASIK, some surgeons prefer to insert a Bandage Contact Lens after performing surgery. These are normally in place for no more than 24 hours – so protein build up is irrelevant here. In surface based treatments like Trans-Epi, PRK and LASEK, the BCL is often left in place for a period of 4-6 days. There is no significant protein build-up over this period of time, although it is not unusual to replace the lens if there is any form of debris accumulation.
The product that I think you are referring to is called an Implantable Contact Lens. These are plastic based lenses placed in the anterior chamber which sits behind the cornea and in front of the iris. Lenses placed in the anterior chamber do not suffer from protein build-up. The same applies to Intra-Ocular lenses placed in the posterior chamber – typically do correct for cataracts.
Do you mean the protective contact lenses given after Lasik? It’s only work for a few days to a couple weeks, depending on the procedure given, and thus, how long it takes for your eyes to recover from the Lasik (mostly to prevent physical stuff like dust and dirt getting into your eye while your cornea heals).
It takes a long time, at least in my experience, to get protein built up to irritating levels…like, 2 years on my extended-wear contact lenses. That hurt like hell…
Health technology is getting better too. They now have drops you can put into your eyes to also reduce protein buildup on contacts.
With Lasik, they don’t put contacts in your eyes. They reshape the cornea with lasers. After the surgery they just make you wear goggles 24/7 for a week.
The contacts bandage is usually used for PRK, but is removed.
its an outline mostly so they can reshape your eye by burning off the layer so that its back to normal
correct me if im wrong….wouldnt doubt if i am
