I feel like I’ve lost my mind but I’m doing it anyway… the cost of lipsuction and a mini facelift in Mexico is a fraction of the cost here in the U.S. apparently because the surgeons in Mexico are not requiered to carry malpractice insurance (at least i think thats why ) Has anyone else out there had surgery in Mexico? I have never been to Tijuana either so anyone with any travel tips for the area would be greatly appreciated.. i will be traveling with my 18 year old daughter and i am a little nervous about the whole thing but I will be 43 years old this year and frankly i guess my vanity is winning out over my fears… wish me luck and thanks

Here in Tijuana, many doctors and dentists are certified by the appropriate medical boards of both Mexico and the U.S. Anyone who would dare practice without a license faces prison time. Malpractice is a much less costly issue here than in the U.S. but also our medical industry is far less encumbered by the layers and layers of expensive bureaucracy found north of the border.
The *standard* of care is different in Tijuana than it is north of the border: our doctors spend much more time with their patients. The *quality* of care is every bit as good as you find in the U.S., often better because our doctors tend to take a more holistic approach with their patients.
The Real Tijuana will be addressing aspects of medical tourism in its upcoming blog entries. If you have a particular procedure in mind, drop us a line (there’s an e-mail link on the blog) and we’ll try to address it first.

I would HIGHLY recommend reconsidering what you’re about to do. Any cosmetic surgery entails some risks, but by deliberately going out of your way to make it even riskier is unbelievable.
Tijuana is renowned for its sleazy bars, shady doctors/surgeons, etc.
Even if you do save some money on the procedure you may well have to seek medical attention after the operation back in the U.S.
I have a friend who went to Mexico to have his wisdom teeth pulled because he didn’t have insurance. He said that the dentist didn’t give him the appropriate amount of anesthetic and it started to wear off before the procedure was done. He said that the whole experience was one of the worst days of his life.
Also, you have a daughter to think about. What if something happens to you during the surgery and you won’t be able to provide for your daughter, God forbid. It just sounds like a really bad idea.
If you do decide to go through with the operation, good luck.

You are going to save some money, But you are going to spend more in the Hospital when they mess up your health and body. That is a bad decision. ! ! ! !
Good Luck!
