Purple is also used for Pancreatic Cancer, and that month is November!

October is Breast Cancer Awareness month and it is pink.
Colorectal Cancer is March and it is Blue.
May is Skin cancer awareness (not sure of the color).
September is Gynecologic Cancer and Prostate Cancer awareness (not sure of color).
    November is Lung Cancer Awareness.
I am sure I missed some, but those are the ones I know about.

There are over 200 different types of cancer and only a handful that have ‘color’s’ and a couple that have a ‘month’. Primarily because the overwhelming majority of cancers do not have a large organization or group advocating for research and cure of the disease. All ‘color’s , ribbons, and ‘months’ are decided by businessess or organizations that have selected that color or month. There is no ‘official’ awareness month or color for every cancer. That is why sometimes you will find different colors and ribbons selected for the same type of cancer.

The pink ribbon and symbol for breast cancer was decided by a major cosmetic company, Estee Lauder whose founder had breast cancer. They decided on pink after having a disagreement with the original founder of the ribbon . . which at the time was peach. She didn’t want Estee Lauder to commercialize breast cancer . . so refused to let them use her peach colored ribbon . . Estee Lauder changed the color to pink . . and . . ended up bringing awareness to breast cancer but also commercializing the disease. That’s why all the companies offer everything in ‘pink’.

Few other disease have the clout that Estee Lauder and the business communities have lent to the think pink campaign.
