Chrome OS, like gOS Cloud , are the future of computing. Research Cloud Computing (I gave you a link at the bottom).
Netbook sales are up 700% this year alone, and within the next 5-7 years, 90% of the market will be relying on Cloud Cloud computing, online storage, and net based programs. With netbooks, people dont need to worry about installing programs (they can use net apps like google docs and Photoshop Express), they can have small SSD hard drives, they can rely on remote processing from powerful Supercomputers to do the work for them, with the result of having a small computer with 8 hours battery lives.
Google is sounding a resounding blow against the Miscrosoft Paradigm.
The Gaming market is only about 8-10% of computer sales, the rest are business computers, and productivity computers. That means only 8-10% of computers sales involve people looking for much more than what a netbook, and a Cloud OS has to offer. The vast majority of gaming these days is done on consoles.
Bye Bye MS.
As an OS, it’ll probably be on par with low overhead Linux OSes like Knoppix or Ubuntu. But some feature will prolly run better since it’s got google’s programming team there to ensure GMail and the lot run effortlessly.
Microsoft might fall and and google os might win.
I don’t think it will do good, It won’t be able to compete with Ubuntu.

Windows Killer? Nope.
Ubuntu is close to being a killer:
All Operating Systems Website, DisCluding Windows and MacOSx
Google’s focus will always be internet.
For the time-being, ChromeOS will be available on NetBook’s, hence the word, “Net” or “Internet” or “mostly for Internet Surfing”, but , won’t happen till 2010.
Until ChromeOS is released, check out Google’s Cloud-Computing:
